Weddings in Barbados tend to be easier to organise than other locations. Barbados is the most easterly of the Caribbean islands and boasts a gorgeous landscape. The pear shaped island consists of a rocky coastline at St Joesph, hills in St Andrew and amazing rain forest in St Thomas.
The waters in Barbados are lovely and warm and the beaches are paved with white sand. There are even spots for windsufers.
Remember Barbados was under Bristish rulling for over thirty years so don't be surprised to come across familar place names.
What paperwork will I need?
First of all the goods news is you are not required to stay in Barbados for a certain length of time before getting married. Remember though you must contact the magistrate or minister who will be officiating the wedding ceremony. They will provide you with a letter that you will need to apply for your licence.
You will also need normal proof of ID. Both your passports and/or original copy of your birth certificates.
If either you or your partner are divorced then you must bring along the Decree Absolute.
If either you or your partner are widowed, you must bring along the original marriage certificate and the death certificate of your former spouse.

Obtaining a Marriage licence
After you have got your letter from the magistrate or minister then go to the Ministry of Legal Affairs to obtain your Marriage Licence.

- For a Roman Catholic ceremony, the relevant documents must be sent by your bishop to the bishop of Bridgetown.

Weather
- It is warm and sunny all year round with an average daytime high of 75 - 85 F. The nights are usually slightly cooler.
- The prevailing northeast tradewinds blow steadily so that although it is bright and sunny, it is not unbearably hot.
- The rain usually comes in quick showers. The dry season lasts from January to June.
